SAFC announced Wednesday afternoon the singing of midfielder Michael Reed. Reed most recently played for NASL side Atlanta Silverbacks in 2015, but played for Minnesota United FC from 2012-2014.
Reed will fit very nicely in the up-tempo, fast paced play style that Coach Darren Powell wants to deploy this season. Powell says in a press release, “Michael has great endurance and an extremely high work rate in the midfield.”
The 28 year old Albuquerque native played at the University of New Mexico before making his professional debut with Minnesota. On joining San Antonio FC, Reed said “I can’t wait to step on the field and represent the club and the city of San Antonio with pride.”
Reed will get the chance to make his case for playtime starting tomorrow (not Friday as previously reported) as SAFC take the field for pre-season training.
