With San Antonio FC’s first match closing in quickly, the first team we’ll focus on is the club’s first opponent. A full preview will be out at the end of the week, but for now let’s chat briefly about Seattle Sounders 2.

The USL side of the infamous cascadia MLS club has a significantly different schedule than our favorite lonestar club, as San Antonio will be S2’s third USL match of the regular season. S2 lost to Sacramento 1-0 on Friday, March 25th and will play Arizona Wednesday, March 29th before playing San Antonio Sunday, April 3rd. Those three matches and the two following them are part of Seattle’s 5 game homestand to open the season.

San Antonio on the other hand is still in pre-season training. They will practice Monday-Thursday this week before traveling to Seattle on Friday for the club’s inaugural match.

For the SRFC match many of the players came from the MLS squad, but we’ll take a closer look at S2 after their match against Arizona as that should be more telling on who SAFC will actually face on Sunday.

For more on S2, check out the future section of our friends at Sounder at Heart.
