San Antonio FC is off to the perfect start. It’s hard to complain about a season that starts with 6 points and two clean sheets. In their third match of the season they’ll get their first test against an independent, non-MLS2 squad as Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC comes to Toyota Field.
The Colorado side is off to a shaky start to the season. Before Tulsa was forced to forfeit the match, The Switchbacks were handed a 4-1 loss from the Oklahoma club. Colorado Springs’ second match of the season saw a 1-1 draw against OKC Energy on a snowy day in Colorado. Snow, or bad weather in general, wont be an issue on Friday night and the Switchbacks will look to prove they are playoff contenders once again.
San Antonio FC’s new-look roster will be tested against a club notorious for absorbing the opposition’s attack. If Matt Cardone and his back four are able to hold Colorado Springs at the same level they’ve held RGV and LA2 this season, it will open up the possibilities for Billy Forbes and the attacking-minded players.

Match Details: Game Three. San Antonio, TX. Friday 4/7/2017. Kickoff 8:00 CDT
How to Watch: SanAntonioFC.com, USL Match Center
Keys for SAFC: The San Antonio attack was patient against LA2, taking full advantage of second-chance opportunities that presented themselves in the attacking third. The key to allowing the midfield to push forward is the strong back line. As long as Ibeagha and McCarthy continue their high level play, SA fans should see at least one goal from the home club.
Player to Watch: Ben Newnam is leading the team in tackles through two games and it’s not even close. If Newnam can continue to shut down the right side of the field, it’s going to make it difficult from Colorado Springs to generate much in the attack.
