After two frustrating losses in a row, San Antonio FC (14-4-10) heads to Oklahoma for their final regular season road match of 2017. Tulsa Roughnecks FC (13-11-4) currently occupy the 6th seed in the Western Conference Playoff picture, but have Sacramento and OKC on their heels. The home side needs a win as much as the visitors as both are pushing for playoff positioning.
The last time the two met, San Antonio dismantled their guests 3-1 at Toyota Field. The score may be deceptive though as Tulsa was coming off of a U.S. Open Cup match, forcing their two leading scorers (Svetesson – 11, Calistri – 9) to come on as late substitutes.
San Antonio will be without defender Stephen McCarthy due to card accumulation and defender Ben Newnam as he sits out his first of three matches to serve his violent conduct suspension. Interestingly enough, SAFC was without McCarthy the last time the two teams met.

Game Twenty-Nine. Tulsa, OK. 9/30/2017. Kickoff 7:00pm CDT. #TULvSA
How to Watch: USL Match Center, USLSoccer.com
Keys for SAFC: The visitors have to figure out a way to overcome the absences. A draw opens the door to falling out of the top four in the West, losing the right to host a playoff match on the way. Whoever fills in for Newnam, McCarthy, and any other regulars who may be missing cant drop the side’s quality.
Player to Watch: Last time the two clubs met Kris Tyrpak finished with a brace. I don’t expect him to play in this match as an effort to be healthy headed into playoffs. In his absence, Omar Gordon or whoever plays the right wing should be able to capitalize on the same weakness Tulsa showed last time.
In breaking with tradition a bit, I’m going to give two projected squads. One of what I think we’ll see and one of what I’d like to see.
What I think we’ll see:
Pitch Black News Projected Starting XI (4-1-4-1): Restrepo; O’Ojong, Hedrick, Ibeagha, Cochrane; Rodriguez; Gordon, Elizondo, Reed, Forbes; Guzman
What I’d like to see:
Kyle Mahnke: Tulsa 2-2 SA
Jonathan Check: Tulsa 1-1 SA
Jose Mario Jimenez: Tulsa 0-1 SA
Jesus Miguel Garcia: Tulsa – SA
