The highest remaining seed in the USL Western Conference Playoffs, San Antonio FC hosts Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Saturday Night.
The Texas club’s first trip to the playoffs in franchise history saw them nab the 2 seed late in the regular season. Friday night, 8 seed Sacramento Republic upset top seeded Real Monarchs SLC in penalties ending the league leader’s playoff run earlier than most expected.
San Antonio will try not to be the next team upset by a lower seed, but 7 seed Tulsa did end San Antonio’s US Open Cup run earlier this season when the two clubs battled past extra time and into penalties in Oklahoma. Despite the US Open Cup result, San Antonio has defeated Tulsa all 5 times the clubs have met in USL play, dating back to SAFC’s inaugural 2016 season.
San Antonio’s stout defense could hold Tulsa’s attack at bay, but Tulsa wants to overcome their struggles and make the 2017 USL Playoffs the second knockout match they’ve overtaken the Texas club.
The winner of this match will play the winner of the match between Reno 1868 and OKC Energy.

Keys for SAFC: The old saying “defense wins championships” has proven to be true historically in the USL Playoffs. If Restrepo and the rest of the squad can keep a clean sheet, San Antonio should be able to come away with a victory.
Player to Watch: Ever Guzman has been the hot foot of late. If the forward can continue his scoring streak SA should punch their ticket to the semifinals
